Effects of solid–liquid interaction and mixture concentration on wettability of nano-droplets: Molecular dynamics simulations

The wetting of droplets plays a critical role in engineering applications. Intensive study on nano-droplets is great significance revealing the characteristics droplets. behavior ethanol/water mixture smooth substrate was investigated through molecular dynamics simulation this paper. Five with different mass fractions placed copper surface energies were simulated to equilibrium at 298.15 K. contract angle, limit (the minimum and maximum tension make completely wetted or non-wetted by droplet), density distribution solid–liquid interface nano-droplet analyzed. effects ethanol concentration interaction (corresponding droplet’s substrate’s energy, respectively) droplet wettability intensely discussed. Results revealed that contact angle decreased increase between substrate. In addition, ultimate increased energy. peak values proportional not related concentration. research also indicated solid substrates various components affected ways: former only but separation energy solids droplets, while latter had influence interface.
